Hi!
First of all: why SnowVM?
Well, I’m crazy about snowboarding and when I’m not doing that, I’m enjoying IT!
SnowVM will be your source of do’s and dont’s, scripts, news, even entertainment and will hopefully assist you during your IT career. The main focus of this blog will be virtualization and solutions that integrate with virtualization. Additionally, I will also post articles about solutions and products of for example HP and Microsoft.
All of my posts are based on my own opinion and not my employer’s. Use my information on your own risk, no guarantees are made and always start playing around in a test environment!
Now to introduce myself:
I’m René, an enthusiastic techie trying to do as much with technologies like virtualization, shared storage and infrastructure solutions. Currently working as a freelance IT consultant.
I started off fixing PC’s and related hardware, as well as assisting customers remotely. Doing this for about 2 years, the next step for me began and brought me to the server-side of IT, where I was performing tasks on Windows Server systems- and applications like Active Directory, Exchange and next to this Cisco IP-telephony and networking to mention some of the areas I had to cover.
During the rest of my career I have been developing my skillset by building testlabs, maintaining production environments and staying up-to-date with the latest releases and news in IT world.
Having my first experience with VMware products in 2009, their product catalog has been interesting me ever since and kept me busy as I try to have every piece of software running in my homelab to increase my knowledge for use in my professional career. This has probably brought me to VMware, where I’ve worked for nearly 3 years as a PSO Senior Consultant. Customers, small and large, simple and complex environment, they’re all special in their own way and makes work fun and interesting.
Thanks a lot for reading my blog. I’m always happy with feedback! =)
